We’d like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. Thanks for all the support over the last year as we’ve transitioned to the new studio. It’s been a great first couple of months open in the new space and it’s been exciting to hear so much awesome music already come through. Recent projects have been Lettuce, Nerve, Tama Waipara, Orly, Small Multiples, Talia Billig, Erin Blatti, Evan Marrien, Rob Gentry, Johanna and the Dusty Floor, Sheah and the Night….more to come in the new year.
The B room is now up and running at The Bunker. The finish work really came together nicely and the live room features Quadratic Residue Diffusers, made by our good friend Brad Williams, which not only look like a crazy art project but make the room sound excellent. The Yamaha upright piano will move into the live room over the next few days. The control room currently has a Protools HD 2 rig, and a good compliment of preamps including Rupert Neve Porticos, Avalon 737, TLA tube pres. It will also be home to some fun keyboards and production oriented gear. B is going to be an amazing room for smaller tracking sessions, overdubs and production.
New pics at the gallery page. One of our fantastic interns Kahil went nuts with the camera and grabbed some cool shots of the space. We’ll get some more up as things progress.

We are pleased to announce the new Bunker Studio is up and running. Studio A has had its first sessions over the last few days and things are sounding awesome. The rooms are really fantastic and it’s such a treat having so much space to work with. We’ve already had some great sessions in and it looks like we have some fun records coming up over the next few months. Studio B will be ready to go by the end of the month and is going to be a very cool room with natural light, exposed brick and great sized control room and live room. We’ll get some new photos and video up soon.
We’re getting close to finished with the build out of Bunker 2.0. Acoustic treatment is going up in all the rooms and wiring is ready for the console install. We are finishing fabric, putting in glass and wood slats next week. As we clean, the old factory concrete slab floors are looking amazing. It’s going to be cool having touches of the original space appear in various places around the studio. Along with the floors there’s some great old brick in the hallways and lounge. Our good friend Brad Williams came in and played some guitar in each of the rooms the other day. Even unfinished the spaces have some distinct personalities and were sounding pretty incredible.
We have been working super hard to get the new studio up and running for October. Sheetrocking is almost done and we start finish work and acoustic treatment this week. It’s looking amazing and will be a unique room in Brooklyn and unlike anything built in NYC in many years. The A Live room is huge and the craziest shape. Can’t wait to start tracking in there!
Here’s a video of where we are at in the construction of the new space for The Bunker. Framing is complete, basic electric is in and we have started sheathing and insulation. The space is looking awesome!! It’s great to see Rod Gervais’ design coming to life.
We have added a RCA 44 ribbon mic and a RCA 77D to the mic locker here. That gives us the classic jazz horn/vocal mic and a pair of 77′s. Everyone seems to love ribbon mics at the moment and we think it’s for good reason!
